Conference And Workshops On Social & Women Empowerment.

Image Vital Aid Foundation recognises the fundamental role that information plays in harnessing global partnerships and development. The role especially played in human emancipation that relates to the empowerment of women can not be underestimated. The commitment we have in mainstreaming the agenda of women rights and development in all aspect of society can not be underestimated.

Dialogue is the basic element of communication and bringing people together to have face to face dialogue is important in discussing serious societal problems and progress.

VAF organises workshops, seminars and public forums on different thematic issues example of which are stated below always attracting people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Trafficking of women and children,
  • Economic empowerment,
  • Migration and development,
  • HIV/Aids,
  • Micro finance and remittances.

Theme: Immigrant,intergration and general pardon
Place: Den Haag municipality conference Hall
Date:  28th April 2007
“Immigrant integration and general pardon”.
Discussion was centered on the initiatives and procedures being adopted by the Dutch government to integrate immigrants or would be migrants into the Dutch society, the nature and impact of the current government policy on integration as it concerns present and future immigrants.
Citizenship and the General Pardon
There has been discussion concerning the General Pardon for about 26, 000 failed asylum seekers that fall under the pre 2001 asylum policies. For many ex-asylum seekers, the general pardon has given a lot of hope but also uncertainty about the process and modalities of its implementation. The conference provided a platform to discuss this in greater lengths and clarity.

Conference Theme: economic empowerment and women and children trafficking.
Economic empowerment
Place: Den Haag “Institute of Social Studies”
Date: 6th of May 2006
The conferences attracted presentations on how remittances can be used to reduce poverty, enhance gender equality/empowerment of women, youth development, Micro financing, Child trafficking, and emigration among other sub-topics.  Information was shared about the nature, extent and problems of migration and settlement in Holland and challenges faced by migrants especially those who would want to return to their countries of origin.

Trafficking of women & children.
Special attention was paid to the peculiar circumstances of trafficked women and children; attempt was made to finding solutions to their plight in Holland, and how the problem can be nipped in the bud both where the immigrants originate and in Holland.
