Women Empowerment & Capacity Building PDF Print E-mail

ImageWhile the Dutch government has been the most receptive to immigrants in the past, integration has never been an easy road to the migrant community mainly due to tougher migrations laws and culture clash.

The need to earn a healthy living has been a desire to many for migration; it has continued to be difficult for them to participate into the mainstream labour market.

In this instance, women have therefore been subjected to double disadvantage of the integration process to keep up with the aggressive job-hunting while at the same time taking care of their families. Many of them cannot sustain themselves because, apart from the lack of employment opportunities they also require adequate skills and capacities to perform in available opportunities.

In order to address this situation of hopelessness and to be able to contribute towards their positive integration and participation in the society, VAF offers skills building sessions in the following activities:

1.Dutch language course

Acquiring basic knowledge about Dutch language has been very productive, as it has helped improve women’s participation in voluntary social activities and also for self-advocacy and enlightenment.

2.Information and Computer Technology (ICT),

The course gives skills in computer literacy for example email, Internet networking, Microsoft office. The skills acquired can help women in browsing and knowing more about the world; they can look for job opportunities during this training.
